But it serves a purpose, and serves it well. As a gameplay experience, its long-term play value is hindered by a lack of gameplay options, vehicles and tracks. Wipeout XL requires an Ati Rage 3D accelerator to work on the PC. However, that music didn’t make the translation, replaced by good, but ultimately repetitive techno (or electronica, as it’s been re-dubbed for US consumption). This brings up the music, which in the PlayStation version of the game was good enough to warrant its own best-selling music CD. It may well be one of the best ever seen in a videogame (good enough to be used in the music video for “Atom Bomb†by Fluke, which is in regular rotation on MTV). In keeping with its emphasis on style-over-substance, a fantastic intro movie sets the tone. The controls are as simplified as the ones from the console version, the game’s 3D graphics are blazingly fast and, for a while, it was one of the better-looking racing games around. It’s also my go-to for between wash window touch ups due to the water behavior.Wipeout XL is a simple arcade racing game. Nice gloss, great water behavior, and absolutely fool proof. Can use as Rinseless, Clay Lube, QD/Spray Wax.
I’d say my favorite Rinseless/QD/spray wax option is the Griot’s Rinseless Wash and Wax. The new Griot’s Brilliant Finish Rinseless (leaves nothing behind option) works really well as a rinseless wash, but per Griot’s is not recommended to be used as a clay lube or QD - you’d be doing your own experimenting. The ONR W&W I should dig out and try again as I think I was trying it in colder weather, but it was prone to streaking (likely user error). Uber is nice, leaves a nice gloss, but I swear it collects dust quicker than other options. If I was using a coating, I’d probably stick with the 914 to let the coating do it’s thing. Since then I’ve also added N-914, and both Griot’s options. I started out with ONR (both varieties) then picked up Wolfgang Uber as it was the forum favorite at the time. 57 Rambler- What LSP will you be using them over? Just curious.
